Sciatica is one of the most common causes of pain radiating along the bones of the leg. When the sciatic nerve is affected, these nerves are the longest in the body. When irritated or compressed, they cause pain radiating from the lower spine to the sole of the foot. Exercise 1: Glute Twist
This exercise should help relieve tension in the lower back without engaging the gluteus maximus, as this could cause compression of the sciatic nerve.

How to do it:
Sit on the floor or carpet.

Hold this position for 15 seconds, breathing deeply.
