Today, my daughter opened her favorite chocolate ice cream, the same one she eats almost every day after school. Everything was as usual: a crunchy cone, a sweet aroma, a soft layer of chocolate on top. A normal afternoon turned into a nightmare

It started like any other day of the week.

School bags were dropped at the door. The shoes were put on in a hurry. The familiar hum of the freezer opening in the kitchen. My daughter’s favorite after-school ritual was as predictable as sunset: first homework, then her beloved chocolate ice cream.

She eats the same thing almost every day.

Crispy cone. Sweet cocoa aroma. A thick layer of chocolate that melts at the first bite.

Everything was as usual.

Until it wasn’t.

“Mom, look, what is this?”

I was in the next room when I heard his voice.

I’m not afraid. I’m not upset. I’m just confused.
